and electing the men and women who, as representatives of the citizens, manage the public affairs of the nation at the local,
state and national levels.

POLITICAL PARTIES are essential in a modern
representative democracy. They provide machinery for nominating candidates and performing other services that our form of
government needs.

- organizing to get out the vote to win elections
- providing research for voters, establishing speakers bureau, holding
social events, producing literature and publicity
- fundraising for party year round expenses as well as campaign expenses
and for the candidates
In recent years, some are thinking political parties are not as important
to winning as television, computer letters, etc. As a result, campaigns have gone to expensive professional managers and expensive
advertising.
But most of the students of communications, public opinion
and politics believe systematic personal contact through precinct organizations is still the best medium of persuasion,
informing the voter, and for turning out the vote.
The DEMOCRATIC PARTY is alive and well! We are playing a vital part
